The reason for one of my trips to the UK last year was to research material for this commission painting of Dunure Castle, on the Ayrshire coast, Scotland. A long time on the easel, and in planning, this finished work was presented at the wedding of a fellow countryman, a gift for his new wife. She too grew up in the British Isles, near the town of Ayr, and this stretch of the rugged Scottish coast was her favourite place to get away from it all, to wander alone along the cliffs and think about life.
