Eldorado
Summit

Finally at the summit, 8868ft. We spend ten minutes to rest and take a few pictures then, as we can see a number of climbers approaching the ridge, we head off so as to leave them a clear root. But also, as the sun rises, and the temperature with it, the snow gets soft. That edge was perilous enough when the footing was sound.

Dale and his Lego man mascot – certainly good luck on this expedition.

Dale, Steve and myself, moving back along the ridge to the crest of the massive drift, where we can begin our descent.

The last stretch of the ridge which drops back down from the mountains face, onto the glacier. Another team of climbers waits below.

Crossing the second glacier to the basin through which we ascended in the dark. We had roped-up at the foot of this foot of the large rocky outcropping, and soon we’d be able see the terrain that had surrounded us earlier that morning.

Looking back and the summit, and the ice ridge that we had traversed, wondering what an ascent of the rock face would be like.

"I dream of hiking into my old age." - Marlyn Doan
